COVID CONCERNS
COVID is still with us from 2020 to 2021 and now in 2022. In the jungles of Vietnam, sometimes we were frustrated and would grow weary of fighting a sometimes invisible enemy. I feel like the battle with COVID is like that in some respects. It’s ever present or it’s always there but not seen. However, we see the results of COVID. We see a great amount of distrust, distortion of the truth, disruption of lives, death and distress. People are lonely because of periods of isolation or quarantine, economic hardship, and people are concerned about families, the civil unrest and uncertainty of what can possibly happen next. The problems Covid has caused are to long to mention, if it were possible.
How do we deal with all of these problems? All through my life, when I began to think I was going through a very difficult time of dealing with a bad situation or problem, the temptation would always pop up to feel sorry for myself. Just when I would work myself up for a pity party a situation or person would cross my path of life to show me there are much worse things that people are dealing with than anything I was. PITY PARTY CANCELLED!
In the Bible there were three Hebrew boys; Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego. They were cast into a fiery furnace because they wouldn’t bend or bow to the king. The result was they did not burn. Paul and Silas were in jail because they were serving,
“the most high God which shew unto us the way of salvation.” Acts 16:17 Instead of having a pity party, because of their situation the Bible says, “at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God.” Acts 16:25 As a result an earthquake shook the prison doors were opened and they were released from their bondage by the power of God.
Today politicians, bureaucrats, medical people, TV personalities, local officials, friends and family are talking about Covid. Truth and misinformation are mingled together. Who knows what to do? Who has the correct answers to so many questions? Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego, Paul, and Silas knew who did. Their hope and trust was in God, no matter what their situation was.
The king Nebuchadnezzar saw a 4th man in that fiery furnace and said, “the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel 3:25 They were not alone! God had not abandoned them and He has not abandoned us.
Put your hope and trust in God, who really can do something about our problems
